Tarsus Museum
Tarsus Museum: Tarsus, an important cultural center of the Cukurova in the historical ages, has been an uninterrupted settlement and cultural center from 7000 BC to the present day. The Kubad Pasha Madrasah, built by Kubad Pasha, one of the Ramazanoglu beys, started to form a museum with the artifacts collected in 1969-1970, and the museum was officially opened in 1971. The museum has two large halls where ethnographic and archaeological artifacts are exhibited. The Ethnography Hall displays cultural artifacts from Tarsus and its surroundings, as well as traces of traditional life. There is a rich collection of silver, copper, woodwork, and handmade textiles. In addition, the old house culture is revived with the Tarsus House section. The lower exhibition hall contains inscriptions, grave traditions, and artifacts from the Ottoman period. The Archaeological Artifacts Hall on the lower floor of the museum showcases 7,500 years of cultural history. The artifacts are from archaeological excavations and purchases in the Tarsus region.
