Soli Pompeipolis: Located in the Mezitli District, about 11 km. southwest of Mersin, the ruins are believed to have been founded in the 8th-7th century BC. The harbor city of Soli enjoyed a bright period during the Seleucid rule in the Hellenistic Period. The name of the city, which started with Soloi and was used as Soli in Latin, was changed to Pompeiopolis (the city of Pompeius).
