Kelenderis Ancient City
Kelenderis Ancient City: Kelenderis, which came under Byzantine and then Seljuk sovereignty in the Middle Ages, was an important port for maritime transport between Anatolia and Cyprus from the Ottoman period until the early 20th century. While Kelenderis was an important Ottoman port through which Istanbul connected with Cyprus via Konya, the port started to lose its function from the middle of the 19th century due to various reasons such as the emergence of Mersin port.
