Kızkalesi

It was founded on a small islet on the coast of the neighborhood, which is also named Kızkalesi (Maiden's Castle). The distance to the shore is approximately 600 meters. An inscription found here indicates that it was built in 1199 by Leon I. It was captured by the Kingdom of Cyprus in 1361. Strabon mentions that pirates used the castle as a shelter during the Roman Period. The castle was as important as the castle on land by Byzantium and Armenians. This place called Kızkalesi (Korykos) consists of two castles. It is known as both a sea and land castle.
